03-31-2011 Mainz
Mainz, Germany, 31 March 2011 – This spring, SCHOTT Solar is proud to present three new solar elements from the InDaX product range. The new SCHOTT InDaX 185 is a version of the InDaX 2xx module that has been shortened by two rows of cells. The established InDaX 2xx module has now been supplemented by the output classes 230 Wp and 235 Wp. This fourth generation of InDaX solar elements completely replaces conventional roofing materials. Certified as “hard roofing”, they guarantee protection from weather influences such as heavy rain, wind or snow loads and achieve higher performance levels than their predecessors.
Since 2003, SCHOTT Solar has been providing innovative, certified roof-integrated photovoltaic solutions based on established crystalline technology. “Our strict quality standards have paid off – the new InDaX systems are very safe and supply high electricity yields in the long term", says Peter Herwig, product manager at SCHOTT Solar. The new modules carry a long-term performance guarantee that runs for 25 years.
Fewer modules, more output
The SCHOTT InDaX 185 is smaller than the InDaX 2xx module. So that the module could be employed on smaller roof spaces, the number of cells was reduced from 60 to 48. The InDaX 185 and InDaX 2xx modules are identical in width. The new InDaX 185 is available to buy from March 2011.
The established InDaX 2xx module has now been supplemented by the output classes 230 Wp and 235 Wp. Whereas its forerunner, the InDaX 214, required 14 modules in a system to achieve an output of three kilowatt peak, the new InDaX 235 only needs twelve modules to reach the same output. The new InDaX 2xx modules are available now.
Hard shell with an appealing design
The SCHOTT InDaX generation has good looks as well as good performance. Thanks to its extremely low installation height and its black frame, the new InDaX system by SCHOTT Solar meets high architectural standards and fits perfectly into the roof’s surface. At the same time, the module replaces the conventional roof shell, providing protection against precipitation, wind load, snow load, flying sparks and radiating heat. On top of this, the modules have been approved for an increased surface load of 500 kilograms per square metre. TÜV Rheinland has certified that the InDaX modules meet IEC 61215 ed. 2 and IEC 61730, electrical protection class II and the CE directives.
SCHOTT Solar too has carried out thorough testing: In addition to the rain resistance test prescribed by DIN EN 15601, the modules undergo special wind channel tests, during which they are exposed to rain and wind in varying intensity, including wind speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour. SCHOTT Solar’s inspection and testing procedures were twice as strict as those prescribed by the IEC standard. The InDaX system has been approved for roof angles of 15 to 65 degrees. Uniquely among solar manufacturers, SCHOTT Solar offers a ten-year rain resistance guarantee on the new InDaX generation.
Thought through – down to the finest detail
Thanks to the minimised number of components, SCHOTT Solar’s InDaX modules are especially easy to install. A flexible order of installation supports speedy assembly. A separate drainage system between the modules means that unevenness on a roof can be balanced out easily, while an ingenious ventilation system ensures yields are high: The modules have a special frame and are arranged in a shingled array. Arranging the InDaX modules in a vertical shingled array supports their self-cleaning and means that condensation can be drained away quickly. From 31 March, the roofing frames will be available in two versions: an optimised “standard” version and a “long version” suitable for low roof angles and highly profiled roof tiles. In new buildings and during roof reconstruction, the free ventilation cross-section underneath the module field can be positioned wherever required by means of determining the height of the counter-laths.
