SCHOTT equips the Roman-Germanic Central Museum with “Asi Thru” photovoltaic modules

Mainz, November 23, 2010 – During the spring of 2011, the Museum of Ancient Shipping of the Roman-Germanic Central Museum (RGZM) in Mainz will reopen following completion of extensive renovation and reconstruction work. Photovoltaic modules manufactured by the SCHOTT technology group will then function as the roof of the former market hall that houses the museum. These modules were installed during the past few weeks.

New Receiver Concepts Improve the Marketability of Solar Power

SCHOTT Solar will be introducing highly efficient receiver technologies for solar power plants like the ones to be used in the Desertec “power from the desert” project at the Annual Conference of the industry initiative Dii. The question of how solar power from the deserts of North Africa can be made even more marketable by lowering costs will be one of the most important topics at the conference. High-performance receivers like the ones SCHOTT Solar supplies play a key role here. The receiver is the heart of solar power plants that rely on parabolic trough technology, and the more sunlight that is converted into heat, the more efficient the entire power plant will be.
